Hypothesis: If we filter the water, then some of the chemical material will be separated.
What will you do? - Use paper filter to filter out the assumed dirt. We will begin by separating the solids and the liquids from the substance by pouring the liquid into a graduated cylinder. The filter paper will stop any of the dirt.
Why are you doing it? -to take out the assumed dirt material.

sand did not work as well- we thought it would take out the odor, but all it did was just absorb the liquid
charcoal and filter paper worked- took out the odor and took out the color
distillation, regular filtering, and charcoal worked better
next step- filter out the water as far as we possibly can and record/observe as we go along
